Health Care Provider Training

The following programs are available to support Health Care Professionals in learning how to move their patients through behavioural change strategies, resulting in improved management of their chronic disease. 

 

 

Clinician- Patient Communication to Enhance Health Outcomes (CPC)

This ½ day interactive training session assists the professional in enhancing their communication skills.

 

 

Culturally Relevant Approaches with First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples Living with Diabetes

This session looks at Type 2 diabetes in the First Nations, Inuit and Métis community from a historical lens, explains the holistic structure of IDHC's programs and services, and briefly reviews IDHC wellness resources.

 

 

 

Health Literacy

This interactive workshop is for health care professionals to understand Health Literacy concepts and learn practical skills for clear and effective communication with patients and family members

 

 

Mental Health First Aid

This 2 day certified training course is an awareness and prevention program that teaches participants how to help someone who is showing signs of a mental health problem or is experiencing a mental health crisis. 

 

 

Motivational Interviewing

This program integrates MI with other impactful and evidence-based behaviour change practices such as coaching methods, key elements of behaviour change theories/practices.

 

 

Moving Towards Change

This program is a 1.5 day workshop with Dr. Michael Vallis. 

 

 

Supporting Diabetes Management During Ramadan Fasting

A virtual symposium with Dr. Tayyab S. Khan, Dr. Ahmad R. Tarakji, and Yumna Khan.
