Free Community Exercise Classes for Seniors

The Township of Wilmot, Wellesley and Woolwich, are offering free exercise classes for seniors that focus on cardio, balance, strength and flexibility. These classes will be ongoing throughout the Summer.

Diabetes Fit- Smart Start to Healthy Living with Pre-Diabetes or Type 2 Diabetes

Join Diabetes Fit to make important lifestyle changes that will improve your health and wellbeing. Practice exercise at a pace that is appropriate for you with support from qualified staff and build knowledge an understanding of healthy eating. Diabetes Fit runs for 12 week with 2 sessions per week in a supportive group settings. This program is free for YMCA members and non-members.

Move for Health- Your Smart Start to Exercise with a Chronic Health Condition

Regular exercise can help to improve your mood, energy levels and ability to move better throughout your day. We know that dealing with a chronic health condition can make it challenging to know where to start. Join Move For Health, where you will receive the support you need to get started at a pace that is best for you.

  • Certified YMCA staff will build an exercise program with you that is tailored to your health and fitness level  
  • 12-week program with 2 sessions per week in a positive, supportive group setting  
  • Program is appropriate for those with conditions including: osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, pre/post joint replacement, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, high blood pressure/cholesterol, stable heart conditions, COPD, diabetes and obesity. Ideal for those transitioning from rehabilitation program to exercise in a community setting.

Free for YMCA members & non-members June 3, 2019-February 28, 2019. Offer is available to those who have not participated in the program before (program formally known as Live Smart).

Escape the Ordinary- Hospice Day Away Program

A weekly, full-day program offered in Kitchener and Cambridge for individuals living with a life threatening illness. Diabetes Connection

The Woolwich Community Health Centre will be hosting a 1 hour group for people living with diabetes to share stories, ask questions and help eachother manage their diabetes.  This support group is intended for people with a diagnonis of diabetes or their support persons.
