Promoting community supports and organizations helps people stay healthy and feel supported. Many communities offer programs, groups, and services that give people helpful information and a place to connect with others. These supports can help people deal with daily challenges and learn new ways to take care of their health. When people know about these community resources, they are more likely to get the help they need and feel less alone. Sharing information about these programs helps more people find support in their community.
The Heart & Stroke Living with Stroke program is a community based support and educational program designed for stroke survivors and their care givers. This program focuses on helping both survivors and caregivers gain confidence in managing the challenges of living with stroke. This is a free 6 week program! The sessions are 2 hours and are led by a healthcare professional.
Some topics that will be covered:
- Understanding stroke
- Physical challenges and changes
- Emotions and depression
- Activities and relationships
